Clone your teacher

Last month I took a tour of the Leander ISD enterprise class, data center. This is a fantastic asset for the school district allowing for the management of 38 networked locations, over 30,000 users, 60,000 emails a day, and 125 miles of fiber optic cabling.

This trip brought up some ideas I had some years ago. What if we record and archive classroom instruction on video?

Right to self defense

In last week’s editorials, Sal Giarrantani of Boston, Massachusetts, wrote that police are now trained to act quickly in response to school shooting. Sal implied that this new training protects schools. Sal goes on to write that guns carried by administrators and teachers are a “quick fix” and that the results of such a policy are unknown. Sal finished by insinuating that guns at school will intimidate students.

Guns for Teachers

The Harrold Independent School District is working to allow teachers and administrators the ability to carry guns at school. The move is designed to deter and protect against school shootings.

No Funny Money for Me

During my Leander ISD school board campaign, I was made aware of a disturbing lesson called “Funny Money” which is supplied by a non-profit corporation called Junior Achievement. This lesson asks “Should Canada, Mexico, and the United States develop the namero as a common currency?”
